Reflections: Artcycle’s second exhibition is here!

Vibewire’s monthly Artcycle has it’s second artist on show this month, featuring Betty Holdsworth’s paintings, entitled ‘Reflections’.
Betty’s work will be featured in the Vibewire Enterprise Hub throughout May.
Betty’s work looks through windows and plays with the contortions of the images produced.
“My work is largely inspired by my fascination with the way glass fractures light and distorts and exaggerates forms. I love the beautiful quality in glass that deconstructs the everyday object that it reflects. “ she says “The everyday, predictable image becomes almost dream-like. Reflected images move and flow like they are almost living and breathing. “
The medium of paint, Betty says, allows her to capture these ideas and gives her the freedom to further exaggerate the already exaggerated and distorted forms and lines.
She completed a Fine Arts degree in 2004 at the College of Fine Arts, UNSW, majoring in painting and drawing. In 2005 she moved to Canberra, ACT, to undertake a Diploma of Education at the University of Canberra, and is currently working as a high school art teacher.
Betty shares, “Painting for me is another way of seeing and understanding the world and what’s around me, it allows me to re-invent my environment, to make perceivable the ideas and fantastical worlds of the imagination.”
