Resident Profile: Meet Axle 8
Axle8: a real time reach and discovery tool for public events and arts & culture
Axle8’s co-founders, Alfred Lo and Jin Liew, have made the Vibewire Enterprise Hub the launchpad for their business.
Axle8 is a Sydney based start-up developing a mobile phone platform to help people find current events and offers in the area around them that are relevant to the day, time and preferences.
For example, it’s a Saturday night and you’re looking for free live entertainment, which DJ is featuring at a your favourite club or last minute tickets to a concert – Axle 8 has got you covered.
According to Jin…
“[before working with Axle 8] I’d previously worked in the corporate world and was looking for something that was more exciting, had greater flexibility and something that I’d be passionate about.
I’d always been interested in innovation and entrepreneurship – early on I developed strategies for internet stock market comps, set up innovative intranet systems for Telstra and UNSW, was active in the Red Cross – and I’m still doing Kung Fu on my days off.
My role in Axle8 is primarily to lead the development of the technology used for the real time reach and discovery tool – we’re aiming to build a prototype by the end of March 2010.
I think the Hub is a great space, as it allows for a very flexible work life and a great opportunity to network and share ideas with other young entrepreneurs.”
