16 June 2010 No Comment By Vibewire

Matt PeacockA great opportunity has flown in from England. Matt Peacock will be leading Vibewire’s second Enterprise Hub seminar for 2010, discussing how businesses can expand to work with the community on issues of social disadvantage. He will be speaking on Tuesday 22nd June from 5:30-7pm at the Hub, free for Vibewire staff, members and residents.

About Matt Peacock:

Matt Peacock was named one of 33 Britain’s Everyday Heroes by Prime Minister Gordon Brown in 2007. He is the CEO of Streetwise Opera, a UK arts organisation that gives a voice to people who have experienced homelessness. Matt was working for Opera Now magazine and volunteered at a homeless shelter when he had the idea to unite the two. Streetwise organises venues around England for the homeless community to participate in professional-quality opera productions. The social enterprise was founded in 1990 and has since staged eight music productions. Matt Peacock will speak about the importance of tackling real life issues and ensuring a good work ethic for new entrepreneurs. As a public speaker and CEO of Streetwise Opera, he encourages businesses to get involved with community services by lobbying the government or establishing projects that will simultaneously better the social enterprise and the people suffering inequity.
