As part of a two-part fashion trip to the East, Faye has come from Hong Kong Fashion Week to visit the India International Garment Fair, viewing rows upon rows of exotic wares by day and cosying up to the 5-star hospitality at the Le Meridien by night.

“We all got to network in the most chicest and comfortable environment”, she said.

The fair was held in Greater Noida exhibiting wares from silks, cottons, embroidery, beading, scarves, shoes, jewellery, belts and much more with fashion runway shows being held twice a day. If Carrie Bradshaw had an Indian equivalent, this would be her haven.

Of course, a fashion trip to India only becomes a complete experience when you can see the fashion in its proper context- selling amongst the buzz of a real marketplace. Delegates of the fair went in groups to explore Delhi after the fair and Faye was fortunate enough to venture to the Janpath Market, Jaipur and Chandni Chowk (meaning ‘moonlight street’) which she described as “the essence of Old Delhi”.

“The spices and the sequin market, rickshaws, colour, madness, jewellery, textiles, saris, local food produce and so much more”, she told Vibewire. “If only I had more time, I could have spent hours there. It was intense.”

A highlight for Faye was India’s jewellery which she certainly soaked in her fair share of having been shown how the gems and stones are cut, polished and set into glittering masterpieces. “I saw ranges of Antique Rajasthan jewellery that had my heart beating”, said Faye. “It was so primal, exotic and tribal!”

New Delhi is a hotspot for any fashion enthusiast or indeed any creative looking to have every sense of their body stimulated to their breaking point. Visitors are bound to find their inspiration here.

“So romantic so beautiful, so hot and humid, so colourful, so enchanting, so spicy and so adventurous is India”, Faye told Vibewire.
